We studied Haiku poetry in class last week. On Monday (2/6), we spent the entire class period working on these poems. Students are required to write a Haiku about one of the 4 pictures that we viewed in class (Mt. Fuji, Koyossan Pagoda, Sunset on the Hiuchi Sea, and Cherry Blossoms).
The requirements for the Haiku are:
1. Based on one of the 4 pictures we viewed in class.
2. The poem fits the Haiku format- 17 Syllables: five in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third.
3. Written in present tense and uses word to paint an image that helps the reader imagine the scene and understand its mood.
4. Is Typed or written in calligraphy format
5. Poem in centered
6. Border on paper
