Math Placement Testing

At Natomas Charter School, we believe that students learn best when challenged within range of their ability level.  In Math, 6th-graders at both Leading Edge and PFAA will be enrolled in either Math A or Math B. Both courses set students up for math success in high school and college but are slightly differentiated based on student needs.  In order to appropriately place all students in a math course, we administer a placement test to best determine their abilities and needs. Any 6th graders who do not complete the placement test will be automatically placed into Math A.

Math placement testing will be held on Thursday, May 16 and Tuesday, May 21 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.  Students should arrive between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m.  Students currently enrolled in 5th grade at Star Academy will complete their placement test in their classrooms at Star and do not need to attend a placement testing date.

There is no preparation necessary or advised for this placement test.  We will provide all the needed materials. The best way for your student to be successful is by being well rested and prepared to try their best.

If you have any questions about math placement, please contact Amanda Goldman, Leading Edge Academy Coordinator at agoldman@natomascharter.org.  All of this information will also be available on both LE and PFAA webpages at le.natomascharter.org and pfaa.natomascharter.org.
