About the Leading Edge Academy

The Leading Edge Academy was founded in 1993 and has earned a reputation for academic excellence, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and having a faculty of outstanding teachers. Our cross-curricular, three-year middle school program links subjects together for a well-rounded and connected educational experience. Our teachers go above and beyond to offer an exciting curriculum that involves students in hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity and exploration.

Our program is built around 5 pillars.  These pillars form the foundation of curriculum, school beliefs, traditions, and events.  They are Shared Leadership and Partnership, Creative / Innovative Problem Solving, Technical Savvy, Appreciating Cultural Diversity, and Global Thinking.  For a deeper look at our academy pillars, check out our Pillar Rubric which describes the skills students will develop in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

The Leading Edge program serves middle school students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  We have approximately 260 students and 10 faculty members.  Class sizes average 30 students per class.  6th graders have a morning core class (Language Arts and Social Studies) with one teacher and rotate through 4 additional classes in the afternoon (Math, PE, Expressive Arts, and Science/Tech).  7th and 8th graders rotate through 7 classes daily (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, Expressive Arts, Technology, and PE).
